The Space: 1920s butcher shop inspired scullery for the 2026 Showhouse at The Merchandise Mart

Type: Residential Interior

Photography: Anna Spaller Photography

Goesling Group was selected along side an esteemed collection of designers to show at the 2026 Merchandise Mart Showhouse with an Art Deco design direction.

While examining parallel trends from the 1920s and 2020s, we identified the rise of human craft as a luxury in the face of growing technological efficiencies.

Our Scullery, a room that celebrates the laborious act of making, shines a light on the people and processes that infuse humanity into everyday artifacts.

From mosaic countertops to hand-cut rugs, the space takes a rawer, more subversive approach to Art Deco that butchers the artificiality of our modern world.

Featuring product by Merchandise Mart Showrooms: Brizo Faucets, Artistic Tile, Stark Carpets + Rugs, DeAurora, Assembled Works, Holly Hunt, Benjamin Moore, Kravet, Romo, Schumacher, CAI
